Heart Cookies for V Day!

V Day is coming up and I thought I'd share one of our favourite recipes to make this time of year. Honestly, we have them on repeat for most of the year, but we only ice them in February, ha! It's fun to play around with food colouring and do different shades of pink if you're feeling creative. You can also sub up to half whole wheat flour and lessen the sugar to make things healthier.

Heart Cookies

Wet Ingredients
  • 1 cup of butter
  • 1 cup of sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1.5 tsp vanilla extract
  • 0.5 tsp of almond extract (the key!)
Dry Ingredients
  • 1.5 tsp baking soda
  • 3 cups flour
  • pinch of salt

Blend wet ingredients together and whisk together dry ingredients in separate bowl. Finally, mix both together, roll out, and use heart shaped cookie cutters. Bake @ 350 for 8 minutes. Ice with a glaze of milk and icing sugar and red food colouring.
